MEMORIAL EXPERIMENTAL DE GUADALAJARA:
Virtual and On-site Exhibition of Video Art & One-Minute Films

Memorial Experimental de Guadalajara was a curatorial project developed within the Head Office for Museums and Galleries of Guadalajara, hosted at the Museum of Journalism and Graphic Arts of Guadalajara (MUPAG - Museo del Periodismo y las Artes Gráficas) between August and November 2025.

An open call was launched focusing on the use of archival materials—both personal and publicly available—as a central axis for audiovisual creation. The aim was to reconstruct the city’s memory through the visual narratives that emerge from the intimate, the everyday, and the urban. Through this approach, the project proposed a collective narrative that reclaims a history from subjectivity, articulating personal experiences with shared memories.

The call privileged, but was not restricted to, works in vertical format (1080 × 1920) with a maximum duration of three minutes. This decision responded to the fact that one of the primary circulation platforms for the selected works was the Museum’s own social media channels; spaces where many of our contemporary memories are currently produced and circulated, and which have significantly influenced the evolution of contemporary audiovisual language.

Eighteen video pieces were selected and published throughout October 12 to 16, 2025, on the Instagram account of the Museo del Periodismo y las Artes Gráficas (@mupag.gdl). Subsequently, the selected videos were screened in the museum’s courtyard during a Night of Screenings held on October 25, 2025.

Parallel to the launch of the open call, a series of workshops and talks were organized to foster the community among the audiovisual artists and to encourage participation in the call.
