RADIO DE NADIE:
SOUND ART PROGRAM
Radio de Nadie was a curatorial project developed within the Head Office for Museums and Galleries of Guadalajara from September to December 2025.
Radio de Nadie (1) operates as the broadcasting booth of a fictional radio station transmitting frequencies from alternate and simultaneous realities. A station without ownership or fixed borders, whose signal expands from the Segunda Estridentópolis (2), a city located at some indeterminate point in the West Coast.
As a metaphorical radio platform, the project brought together artists from different regions of Latin America to explore sound, memory, radio, and noise as shared territories through which to imagine other ways of inhabiting and narrating the present.
Throughout its programming, Radio de Nadie 2025 inhabited the museums of Guadalajara as spaces of resonance and critical dialogue, where sound becomes a relational philosophy and an epistemological base, one that advocates for listening, caregiving, liquidity and the telematic; where noise is understood as a central metaphor in the construction of knowledge and imaginaries.
A propagation of sonic pulsations, time travel, and intangible territories conjured solely through sounds. Radio de Nadie broadcasts on IPF (Intervened Psychic Frequency), inviting listeners to tune into fields of possibility.
1. Radio de Nadie takes its name from Café de nadie, a poem associated with the Mexican avant-garde movement Estridentismo (1920s), which served as a key historical and conceptual reference for the program. The Estridentista movement—led by figures such as Manuel Maples Arce—proposed radical reconfigurations of urban life, sound, language, and technology as tools for imagining modernity.
2. Estridentópolis was a fictional city conceived by the Estridentistas as a symbolic and utopian space for artistic, technological, and social experimentation. Rather than a fixed geographical location, it functioned as an imaginary urban construct—an emblem of speed, noise, radio, and modern life—through which the movement articulated its avant-garde aspirations. Segunda Estridentópolis refers here to a speculative reactivation of that concept in the present.
